RE: skymaster f16 1/6... calling likai or icepilot
to marty, yeah i think i will try this setup. this (skymaster 1/6) f 16 is a lot bigger than the a/d, had it side by side with tommos and mine is about 450mm longer, a real bohemoth. i think flaps would slow the landings and let it touch just that little bit softer. can't work out why it seems to fly better in bennets hands than mine, very confusing.
to jon, the consenses on flapperons is that as the airspeed drops to very near the stall, with the aileron drooped as a flap, the lift is greater than an unflapped wing section, apply aileron
(either left/ right evenly or any combo of differential) and the side that lifts will revert to a section with less lift, possibly stall, and bango or the side that drops further will drag the wing/airframe into adverse yaw, and bango.
i believe the f 16 (and some other similar types with multi flight computors) sample airspeed/a.o.a./throttle set/ pilot's intention continously and will not allow the flapperons to stall the aircraft. maybe someone out there knows the truth and can comment?
bottom line jon - i'd be very careful of flapperons.
iceman - thanks, i'll try your elevon rates and i'm going to put the flaps on the left slider (10x). soft grass and a (too) slow landing cracked the nose gear mounting plate (just the right amount of strenght in this part) no damage to the gear, and just a tiny crack on the fuse, will also very soon begin a respray, probably the dutch j-055, i just can't see it, the skymaster paint job is too good and scale!!!
thanks for the replies guys, and i'll update on the new settings and performance soon
p.s. have a nice lay down on the beach tor!!!
