use the silicone but get the high temp kind,the stuff i use is the red type.you might need to replace the lock nut that holds the through bolt in the muffler.once they are loosened they seem vibrate loose,i have had some luck with the blue locktight brand thread locker,but mostly just either replace the locknut or double nut it.
