I can't tell from those pics, try moving the camera physically back from what you're taking a picture of, if you don't have a Macro setting on your camera then you usually have to be at least 12" away. And yes it could be an air leak but without a temp gauge there's not really any easy way to check for that, besides teaching your motor how to swim maybe..
