Thanks all for the responses, especially all the info WhiteWolf.
I could convert a servo but the HL one is much lower profile and is already installed. The Tamiya traverse mech came with a 3 position reversable switch for a servo but I need finer resolution for targeting.

I'll try to pick up one of the above ESC's
