Default 3W ENGINES HELP!!!!!

Hi, I thought I would put in my two cents worth. I fly in colorado with some really top notch aerobatic pilots. I have noticed a trend away from the 3-W engines. Overheating has been a problem, even with air ducts in the cowls. The base of the carb gets hot and deforms, allowing air to leak in and cause the engine to quit. Unfortunately the 3W distributor hasn't been able to help out, so most of the guys here have switched to the Desert Aircraft 100cc to 150cc twins. They are lighter than 3W and put out similar power.I know there are some guys who won't like this, but I'm just stating what I have seen over the last year.
