Default RE: take it easy or full throttle

ORIGINAL: beenbreto

its a Carson specter ( German specs cuz i am in Germany ) don't know the engine size but it says 3.5 on the side. i took it to my friends place and we notice that the lines were pinched so i fixed that along with a total motor cleaning than my glow igniter went out so i charged that. i think that's it for now lol. How can you tell if you glow plug goes bad? how long should a new glow plug last? how can you tell if it is bad?
Take it out of the engine and put it in the igniter, if it doesnt light up its no good, or if the coil is all bent and deformed or pushed in its probably no good. Look at a new one and use that as a reference as to what it should generally look like, it will not look as new but the coil should remain the same shape unless you are running to lean or the engine isnt shimmed properly.

Glow plugs are like light bulbs, they can last 3 months or 3 minutes. Go to a shop with the car, usually one with a track will have more experienced guys on hand (thats not saying any others are bad but just a fact) and ask them what you should do. But for the most part if you want to go at it alone you should grab a few different heat ranges and see what works best.

For some tuning info, read this top to bottom 3 or 4 times and print it out if you arent familiar with tuning an engine, which is a process that usually needs to be done every day you take it out or even sometimes adjusted a few times through the course of a day.

I think you may have to join but its worth it, theres a wealth of info on that site.
