Default Grass landing and take off with the Blade CPP

I bought myself a Blade CPP the other day being new to heli's and so far have 3 batteries through it.
I can get it to hover over a sheet of ply wood, but when I try and get it to go away from me and then turn nose in and come back to me I cant always get it back to the plywood and even though my grass is short it still hits the tail blades, and its very hard on them, I'm on my 3rd set. The last time it hit the grass the blades are fine, but the little gear and whatever holds the rotor in place flew off and hit the main rotors, so they need to be replaced now too.

I really only have a road to practice on if its not grass, and i figure cars are an obstical I should be avoiding. But I cant seem to find any landing gear that would raise the body up 4cm or so.
Or maybe there is another trick to grass landing and take off?
