Some folks glue a button or plastic bead to the bottom of the vertical tail support to keep it from sinking as far into the grass. This may help protect your tail rotor.

Also, installing Super Skids will get your tail rotor a lot further from the ground. Those skids are quite a bit taller. Much heavier, though.
