Default RE: super tiger engines?

well, i seem to fall into the "cannot tune a ST" category lately. It is a .45 I keep trying to find some advice tuning it, but beyond the basics of tuning any glow engine, and not finding much searching (seems i also fall into the "cannot use the search function well" category. the engine was a used hand me down. wouldn't run for beans when i got it. very hard to turn over. dissassembly and serious cleaning fixed that and made it run quite a bit better, but not reliable still.

myself and some of our very experienced vets have tried with unsatisfactory results. various prop changes. high and low end adj. several of the different methods (lift the nose, pinch test, rpm by ear and tach). checked all lines tank placement/integrity, fuel foaming etc. it was given to me and runs ok, but just not consistent or dependable. I think i have a partial air leak somewhere in one of the rubber parts of the carb. that is getting a rebuild this week to see if that does it.

anyone got any advice or can point me at a relevant thread on the subject? I hate to rehash what has most likely been covered several times before.
