RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36
The little 5/6v 3 amp BEC at HeliDirect ($13) is working ok. Very light and runs cool. You WILL need to make sure the wires are not touching in some spots. The price to pay for not paying the price.
Been running the black main gear on a 13t Revco pinion and 400LF. Runs great and I think this one will last. No weebeeebeee sound now, as with the white ones. I'm dying to get my JGF 400DF back in, it's much lighter and the batteries are cooler when flying it.
I think the Hyperions may be better pinions.
Polishing the pitch block tracks and GETTING THE TRACKING as good as possible made all the world's difference in pitch block wear. About 70 flights on the one I removed and barely any wear on it. The first one was 1/3 worn down in 107 flights. I don't like flight 107, that's where I had a link pop and crashed. Installed Align balls and links. Doing great now.
I had a good time flying today and getting to where I fly in winds that blow my clothes and hair. The CP sure is a help for that. A little more work and the 36 will suit my sport flying well. The 450SA still waits for 3D. I'd like to set it up for sport flying, I think maybe a set of 315's or even 305's may cut power consumption down. I run 325 woodies now.
