Default RE: AD Jets Scorpion

A friend just got one in today. I hope it flies good because I was not impressed with the looks of it. Stab, wing and canopy fit looked pretty good. Structurally, other than some missing glue on one former it looked ok, but the finish left a lot to be desire. Mold seams on the wings were very rough. Paint is dull and the nose appears to have been sanded with very fine (2000 or so) grit paper. Cut outs on the ailerons and flaps were a real hack job. Even though the plane doesn't use a bypass inlet liners are included, but we can't figure out how to get them into the plane without cutting something, and they are not even mentioned in the manual. The main tank can be pushed back a good inch and a half from where the manual shows to mount it. This should help with CG as the entire fuel load is in front of the CG. Wings are set up for mini servos and changing to anything bigger would be a major hassle. Radio tray is about half the size it should be. Landing gear cut outs are not made and there isn't a clear canopy. Considering you can get a Rookie, with gear for less money than just this airframe, I'd pass on this one. You might want to consider one of Fei Bao Velox's or the new Boomerang Elan. I saw the Elan prototype fly at Mississippi Afterburner and it is a really nice flying plane. Or if your friend wants a more conventional looking jet, for not much more money you can get a Comp ARF Flash.
