Try taking the barrel out and then lift the hook on the end of the spring, up out of its slot. Let the spring relax and then cut a slot to in the plastic ridge to match the original shape but in the new relaxed position.you might want to make the location so it just goes to a closed position. This has worked well for me on several rotory carbs.
