Default RE: New CMP Cessna 182 .52 size

On the larger version we went through exactly the same thing with a club member's plane.

The plane would react in a very tail heavy manner.

Almost all mid throttle turns resulted in a tip stall. At high throttles the nose went up in an almost uncontrollable manner.

The bottom line is that the plane was too tail heavy.

The plane was stalling out on us but we did not know this, as the nose would not come down during the stall.

A turn in this condition caused one wing to drop quickly.

Either the builder did not correctly balance the plane, or he did not understand where the C.G. should be.

I eyeballed the plane and told him to place the C.G. between the forward two wing cap screws. This was much further forward than what the directions called for, but it cured the flight problems.
