Default RE: Best 1st Heli (non coaxial) unlimited budget

ORIGINAL: ea01bg

I have the Great Planes 3.5 sim and have flown the helis on it with verying levels of sucess. I have a hard time seeing them at a distance on the sim.I think I will go with th T-Rex SE and my DX6. But I think I'm going to hold off on buying it until I have a better handle on setup. I'm going to spend some more time learning Heli basics before I get started. Some one here recomended a book that I'm going to pick up today at LHS. And I may go ahead and get a Blade CX2 to fly around the house and get the TRex during the winter and take my time on build and setup. With more sim time , knowlage and some CX2 time under my belt maybe I can save myself a repair or two.
Thanks everyone for your responses they have been very helpful

Waiting until you learn the setup is a great idea. T-Rex is also a fairly forgiving heli. CX2 can be fun to fly around the house and chase the cat with but I wouldn't rely on a CX2 to teach you how to fly the T-Rex.

I would also advise to take your time and add trimming to your curriculum. That alone will be the single most important skill you can learn. If you have a properly trimmed heli, it's much much much easier to learn how to fly it. The Finless instruction link I posted has some very good tutorials on it.
