Strat, Mode 1 puts the throttle on the right stick and Mode 2 puts the throttle on the left stick. Mode 2 is what we use here in the US. If your Tx is set to mode 2 then that's not your problem.

Can you post your servo mapping. I have a feeling that's where the confusion lies.

Also it's unlikely it's the crystal. Usually either they work or they don't with no inbetween.
