Yup, you'd need radio gear and some batteries for the sub. The "Tamiya" style packs are those 6-cell ones that you see on RC cars. Gell-cell batteries look like black boxes that require a different charger. As for tools, it's always recommended to have them ready at home when you receive the kit, some include tools, some don't.
