I bought a full body pilot from Pilot People. It was nicely made and light. Yes it was one of those "expensive" pilots. I think the price and what you get depends on what kind of model you want to put it in. I don't object on principle to spending $80 on a nice pilot if it enhances the plane. Scrimping $ on a pilot for a plane that cost $1,500 and has mountains of effort put into it seems like false economy. Still - I like the idea of making one instead. Just don't have the sculpting skills! I use the econo pilots for the econo planes! Same for wheels. I bought Herbie spoked wheels and they are very nice. Lots of people use baby carriage wheels, but they wouldn't look right on all planes.
