RE: Cermark Spitfire
I maidened mine today. I flew it a little nose heavy compared to the 4 in cg that is recommended. The ground handling is something that needs improvement. The tail was real light and the plane was wanting to nose over. I dont think the bumpy grass field helped out any either though. I addded a little weight to the tail which helped some. Once I got it rolling and the tail flying it was fine though. The g 26 with a 16-8 apc prop pulled the plane into the sky quite easily. I think the engine is a good combo for this size plane. It does some great low fly bys. It has plenty of speed. I dont think the 16-8 prop is loading the engine much at all because the engine was screaming at full throttle. I didnt fly at full throttle too long though because of it being the first flight. Once I get the ground handling straightened out Ill try a 15-10 apc I have. Oh the landing. The plane slows down pretty well for a landing. I dont know if the retract doors are going to last on the grass field. When I touched down one of the doors caught in the grass but let loose before it broke the wood. All in all though I really like the look of the plane in the air. It also flies great at speed and is a good match for the g 26 which is kinda hard to find in a warbird. Once I sort out the little things it will be a great flying warbird that looks great too.
