hehe, yeah that's basically how it is =)
great planes uses the standard polarity jst balance tap and TP obviously uses the TP tap. You can get adaptors to go either way, so basically just get the one you want and get some adaptor cables and make sure on the polarity.
Another option is something like the blinky, but you would also need to get the tp adaptor for that one as well.
I use the equinox, and that is plug and play with great planes, and then you could get the v2 jst to TP balance tap from some place like
