RE: WACO YMF
Outlaw, Ken and all,
Note dates of manufacture on the below aircraft;
P1/2 Left and right top wing tip lights on 1987 YMF Classic NC 14081 at apex of tip
P3 Belly light on 1987 YMF Classic NC 14081, No other light on fuselage.
P4 Landing Light on the lower wing of 1987 YMF Classic NC 14081 (both sides).
P5 Wing tip light (Model A) on 1932 UBF-2 NC 2091K
P6 Tail light (top of rudder post) on 1932 UBF-2 NC 2091K
P7 Wing tip light (Model B) on 1932 UBF-2 NC 155Y
P8 Tail light (top of rudder post) on 1932 UBF-2 NC 155Y
P9 Wing tip in leading edge of 1940 UPF-7 NC 173E
P10 Wing tip light mount in leading edge of YKS under restoration
The YMF that the Pica kit is based on, NC 14031, has lights similar to the UBF-2s mounted half way between the straight leading edge and the apex of the wing tip. Other YMF/UMF had leading edge lights as shown in the UPF-7/YKS pictures. And some had no lights at all. If you are making a specific A/C, your lights need to be positioned like your subject plane. Sorry, I don’t have any measurements or pictures with a scale in them.
