R9 brags about hitting over 410 on a D21B (engine he got for free and why he became a STS Dealer), and it still lived on for several gallons.
If I remeber correctly, the guy from SC who burnt up his engine actually got to run his for about 5 gallons (maybe 6) before he chunked his D28M.

Such a pity, if he mailed to me the burnt up hulk, I'm pretty sure I could have rebuilt it and got it back to running order with a rebuild and a properly machined carb.
