I would recommend getting a Better ESC then the stock one regardless.
I use an M-Troniks Viper RV15 ESC and both the Tamiya RZ and TZ motors
Your mods are heading you in the right direction for a better drifter..

On my TT-01 I just replaced the Centre Plastic shaft with an Alloy one and thats pretty much it... rest was stock
