Default RE: Best Flying Scale Warbird

Andernamen,
Your F4U crashed, due to several reasons. Keep this in mind about ALL Warbirds, You are the Pilot. The Corsair and Spitfire will leap off the ground if given the chance. On takeoff, I always leave the elevator on low rates and usually for the duration of the flight. Once you taxi out and point her into the wind, put the idle trim at about half and slowly accelerate. You will see the plane gain speed and the tail will raise. You may have to push forward on the elevator stick slightly to keep it on the ground. Once you have achieved flying speed let the elevator stick go to neutral and the plane will probably lift off on its own. You only need to pull back a couple of clicks to climb and head for down leg. Remember, this all happens in less than 30 seconds. You have to be in front of your aircraft in your head. The Hangar 9 Warbirds are much lighter than the Top Flight series. With a Top Flite, once in a stahl, get the nose down to gain speed and control of the aircraft. I have a Top Flite 1/7th Scale Mustang powered by an O.S. 1.08. She's a screamer, but goes right where she is pointed. Good luck and Happy Landings.
