well guys,
I have some food for thought.....
I know that these models have a somewhat weak retract area, and that we have spent many post talking about beefing up that area. but i must caution on over strengthening it.
below are pic's of my mustang that failed to flare on approach.....
As you can see on the left hand side of the wing, the mounting area was stronger than the balsa around it causing significant damage when it ripped the leading edge out. the ply bearer on the right wasn't of as good a quality ply, and that gave way. this resulted in far less damage to the model overall...
So the moral of the story is this, yeah, streangthen the area, but watch by how much you do it!!!
