Mine is definately not ringed and it's a great running motor. Mine started on the 3rd flick out of the box and has started on the first flick ever since.

I haven't bothered to tach it yet while it's still breaking in.

I have a suite of props to try once break-in is complete.

APC 12.5x6, 13x8 and 14x6
Bolly 12.5x6, 13.5x6 and 13.5x8

Personally, i think OS done the motor a dis-service by reccommending such large props. I have a hunch that it will really perform with props around 13x6
