RE: IMPACT-USA
Thanks for your kind words. We do hope the market will continue to grow & IMPACT's sales expand here. IMPACT has a lot of new product in the pipeline & will do well since their sales are Europe are substantially higher than here in North America. By the way, no matter what you read or hear, IMPACT has not given anyone an exclusive for the North American market so anyone who wants to be a wholesale dealer & can handle the volume is free to do so.
Regarding our decision, besides the time factor, it was a no brainer when I can make a better return selling one bathtub in my core business than Logan would see in 3 months of IMPACT sales. Besides, we got into this to assist IMPACT with their new startup & to have a little fun. IMPACT offers an excellent product line that brought another choice to the RC tank market. They have been developing a lot of new items in conjunction with their existing EU dealers & will do well in the coming years.
We wish IMPACT & their dealer network well in continued growth & hope to see more innovative products for the community in the coming year. I look at them the same way as Apple Computer - they may not have been the first to make metal tracks nor the cheapest, but their dedication, innovative ideas & attention to detail alllow more choices & better options for the tanker community as a whole & that is good for everyone!
Regarding market expansion, you are correct there is a lot of interest for a quality low cost RC tank series on the retail end but its the quality that scares then away. Sort of like British sportscars in the 1970s! We had been working with HobbyTown earlier this summer since they are interested in adding the low cost RC tank line, hence the reason for my HL visit, but are concerned on the defect / return rates: they saw a 50% failure rate with a week of receiving our samples which had been fully tested & checked. I certainly did not want to have that responsibility hanging over my head! HL has been considering setting up their own distribution & service center here after watching MATO's success here & in Europe so who knows what the future may hold. Again, gas powered toys are the future for them so it would make a lot of sense to get more involved in the sales & marketing side of the business.
All I know is that now I'll be able to get back to my hobbies: RC ships, subs & tanks after not having touched them since early May as well as posting on the boards again after being away for the past few months.
