I also run a HS-645G for my Ravager's throttle and brake. It used to coast to a stop and now will lock up all four if adjusted to that point! Ihavent gotten around to changing out the steer servo yet but it's a must.
just curious, but does that spring on your throttle servo horn act as a failsafe?
It will do in the event of total electrical power failure, as long as the spring is able to pull the servo horn round, they are more useful than an electrical one if you lose the battery, but you don't find out the batts dead until the car just sits still.
I think I'm more concerned that my receiver's battery would fail than my transmitter, since that one at least has a meter on it. Having a mechanical failsafe (ie;spring) seems like a better idea. I know my current stock cheapie servos don't hold position when they lose signal from the transmitter or lose power from the reciever pack, so a spring would work, but I don't know if a new digital HS or HT servo would refuse to move when power is lost.
Do any of the newer radios monitor reciever battery strength?
