Default RE: Tamjets Gear failsafe Tip info update

Tam,

I know why the system does not work....I have done quite a bit of testing to figure out why (what can I say, I'm slow). Anyway, it has to do with the failsafe of the Spektrum receiver. When you "bind" your receiver for its failsafes, you usually bind it with the gear down, throttle at idle, and everything else neutral, blah blah blah. SO, what happens is, when the Spektrum receiver turns on, the first signal it sees is "failsafe" until a signal is received from the transmitter, which can take anywhere from 1-5 seconds (maybe more). Since the gearsafe senses a signal for gear down immediately, it thinks the trasmitter is already at gear down, so any following commands, it will obey without any questions. What that means is, if your trasmitter is in the GEAR UP position at turn on, the failsafe of the receiver will tell the gearsafe that the gear is set to down, but then as soon as the xmitter and receiver link up, it will immediately retract the gear.

Tam, a fix for this would be for the gearsafe to ignore any GEAR position chages for the first 15 seconds of being turned on. That way, the gear would be down during turn on, and the failsafe would ignore the gear up request after the xmitter and receiver link up. After the first 15 seconds, then you could operate as normal.

Just a thought.
