Default E-Flight 540 BP gear fix

Okay we all can admit the stock gear would even bend on a rubber band plane. I sat and looked at the plane thinking of ways to fix my gear to something better. Using what I had laying around I came up with a few ideas. Here is one of them. The other I have no made yet.

I had a carbon fiber rod laying around so I cut it to length and cut a small slot in it. I then cut off the stock gear right at the wheel pants leaving about 1/4 left. I grinded it down to the size of the diameter of the carbon rod. I then slid the 1/4 portion into the rod and JB welded it and slide down some heat shrink over it.

On the fuse I drilled out two holes size of the carbon rods in an X pattern. Doing this one gear is slightly ahead of the other but didnt matter to me. I just needed a gear. If I want to make both equal it would be easy just notch on each carbon rods and let both sit flush and glue. After the holes w.as drilled i slide the rod into the fuse on both sides and glued in. I could of done it more nicely if i wanted but this done in a hurry. Here are some pics of how i did it
