I bought the Evolution 1.00NX engine because the Evolution 46NX is the best glow engine I have ever owned, but after reading some of the posts here on RC Universe I was wondering if I had made a mistake. After flight testing, all I can say is this engine is GREAT

I am running this engine on a UAV that gets lots of flight time, lots of long full power climbs, long pIeriods of idle, and lots of cruise at midrange and the engine has been flawless. The Evolution 100NX starts easily and never quits until I shut it off, power is good and instantanious when I need it, the Evolution 1.00 NX is every bit as good and reliable as the 46 NX
There are a couple things I did right off, based on some of the reports that I have read. I have always hated remote, back mounted needle valves, these were invented to please lawyers, not modelers [:'(] Fortunately, the Evolution 100 NX has a provision to easily convert the main needle to the much better working carb mounted position. Just unscrew the dummy plug from the left side of the carb, unscrew the entire needle jet assembly from the remote arm, and screw it to the side of the carb, its that simple, unscrew just two things and you are done !!! Evolution even included two shorter backplate screws if you want to take the remote needle mount off the backplate, although this step is optional.
The other thing is to make sure the carb is seated down against the carb gasket so there are no air leaks, there have been some reports of this gasket missing from the Factory so I checked mine. The gasket is very thin and hard to see, and it sits down INSIDE where the carb goes into the engine, not around the base of the carb as in most engines, so its VERY easy to not see it and think its not there. Anyways my gasket was there as it should be and I just Pushed the carb down against the gasket while I tightened it so that there would be no air leaks.
Lastly, I unscrewed the idiot stops on both the main and needle jets. The stop on the idle adjustment adds a lot of mass to it, and can even make it prone to moving on its own. I know how to adjust and engine, and dont need stops to keep me from running it to lean... I set up the engine just once, and forgot it, the adjustment stays where you put them and the engine runs great, flight after flight.
The Evolution .46NX has a reputation for being a great running, long lasting, high quality engine. I have found the Evolution 1.00NX to be every bit as good and trouble free as the .46 as long as you use a little care in setting it up properly.
