I recently changed my Wren-54II over from onboard start to autostart. I worked the minor bugs out thanks to those from the forum who helped. In the process, I think its time for a new starter and Bendix.

What happened is the starter started to intermittently stick during start up. The result seemed to be the stuck starter keeping the turbine from reaching its idle point-it would hang at about 25K and the temp would surge to 800 degrees celcius, followed by (thank god) shut down, or I would abort the start. Sometimes the start sequence would be complete and the run was fine. But the problem started happening more frequently-and finally, every start attempt was not successful.

So I pulled the starter out of the caseing thinking the oring needed to be cleaned/inspected. In messing with the Bendix, it catches all the time now. And to make matters worse, the shaft on the motor has alot of play. I put everything back together after unsticking and lubricating the assy. The result was the same, except sinch the starter sticks, the whole motor rotated a few turns inside the housing during the start attempt[] So I thinks its pretty toast now for sure-

Does my description of the problem make sense? I emailed Carlos at RTI to see if he has a 280 motor w/ a new Bendix assy.
