Default RE: JLT-750 Turbine ??

A friend thought he would save a few bucks on one of these 'bargain turbines'. They were briefly advertised by one of Australia's biggest distributors.

Feedback? Be affraid! It flew a Baby Boomerang (just) but was not a stunning performer when it did run. After a painful six months of fiddling, modifying, trip back for repair etc he bought a Jetcat P-70. Which he now admits he should have done in the first place. His conclusion, a $2000 engine is not good value if it does not work properly but a $3500 engine that runs perfectly, flight after flight, hour after hour is good value.

No doubt the Jet Joe fan club will post to say how wonderfull they are, the JJ owners thread makes for interesting reading (if you have that much spare time). Have a look & make up your own mind.

One day, with some development, they may be a good thing (the engine they are copied from is one of the best) but from my friend's (bad) experiences I would say there is no such thing as a GOOD cheap turbine. - John.
