I had the very same thing done to my 3W140 four years ago and it's running great.
I can't find the thread or instructions, but I have the pictures of someone doing it.
There's a guy named Kris that used to be on all the boards, but I don't know how to find him amymore.
He might be on the Yahoo IMAC group.

It does work, and it's a good idea!
