Is it possible to participate in the hobby while promoting the hobby with results of recruiting new AMA members and still be labeled an AMA basher?
Yes, seems there are many here that have love/hate relationship with the AMA. Many of them hypocrites, just as you just described. Especially the ones that say they promote the AMA, then boast and expect something back in return for their effort.
Examine the players - the FUBAR FIVE consists of individuals that have created havoc in at least two documented cases with clubs on a local level. The 3 others have exhibited a real disdain for clubs in general and that translates into the AMA since most clubs are AMA chartered. While the rants we see here are strong, they represent and insignificant number in the modeling world. Sure AMA membership appears stagnant, name adult hobby organization that isn't. It is in keeping with the times, what's in it for
ME? What do
I get out of it? It must be really tough to wake up every morning trying to figure out another way to dis those that don't see it your way. You have to wonder just what they expect to achieve in the long run.
