Well I'll help as much as I can, but start with this check out
www.wikipedia.org and searching for information there.
The AM FM and Spektrum all use a specific frequency to send a signal AM is typically 27mhz, FM is typically 75 or 72mhz and Spektrum is 2.4ghz the numbers are just general numbers the AM and FM bands are much larger but since were dealing with Radio Control I’ll stick with these as a reference. AM is generally short range compared to FM or Spektrum and there are only 6 channels on the AM side for RC cars. FM has much longer range but it depends on the quality of the radio 72 MHz is typically used for airplanes and 75 MHz is used for cars and some boats.
I’m guessing that you have an AM radio for your Mini LST which is why you don’t have much range; my suggestion is get at least an FM radio. The Spektrum radios are nice because they don’t use removable crystals to determine frequency, and they work in Spread Spektrum which means the radio scans for an open channel and uses that open channel. If you want better information on Spektrum go to Horizon Hobby.com and look at the articles the have there.
I’m sure there are errors in above statements and as far as I know the frequencies are only for the USA I think the UK uses different frequencies than us.
