Lanier 30% Edge and 3w-75 combo?
I'm thinking of getting a Lanier 30% Edge, and I've been reading a lot of threads concerning this plane. I also know that most guys are either running the ZDZ 80, or the 3W-75. I'm a big fan of 3W, and presently own 4 of them in different sizes. So I would like to stick to a brand that I have had good success with. Now, 3W has 2 versions of this motor, a rear intake, and side intake.
My question is, which 3W-75 to go with??
The side version is 1/2 lbs lighter and cheaper,
The rear is heavier, and a little more expensive.
At first look the answer seems simple...Go for the cheaper , lighter one.
But!!! In my experience I've learned to really appreciate the transition, and stability that comes from rear intake motors. As well, they are a more compact design (no big carb sticking out the side) Now I'm all for saving weight, but from what I'm gathering, it seems that this plane needs the nose weight.
Any comments or suggestions??
