while it is true reading will not help you you can learn a lot about what to expect.trouble is.......... it happens very fast & RC flying only gives you time for trained reflexes NOT deliberate thought. If you dont know what to do & have not seen it before you will be helpless in only a few seconds . the next thing you will see it pieces of your plane to pick up.
one of the best books STILL on the subject is John Carrolls LEARNING TO FLY RADIO CONTROL MODELS BOOK . out dated model wise but tecniques ARE TIMELESS. usualy offered on e bay.
