You should find that the last few millimeters at the ends of the throws lock the retract mechanisms, so the servo shouldn't be taking any load, either up or down.

If this isn't the case, then I wouldn't rely on the load 'fighting' the servo, as that'll very quickly deplete the battery, like a binding servo does.
