RE: First Giant, Four Star 120 with a Ryobi 31cc Gasser
ok all done. well almost. I need to buy new control rods for the tail feathers, hook up the switch and servo leads, Check cg and put battery in place, then find a suitable pilot from my good friends at the target toy department. Not too much to do really. I think i'm going to go out to the field sometime this week and fire up the engine and get it tuned. Does any one know the rpm range i should be getting with a 16x8? How many turns out do i put the screws? I guess i have some programing to do as well to get the throws right. also i just bought a pump for gas (the glow one would of rotted out). i need to go to the home depot and buy a gas can to make a filling station. any way here are some photos of the almost finished project. feel free to post comments, criticisms. keep in mind this is the first time i've added trim with monokote. Took me 8 hours to ad the stripes. I think it looks good. I just remembered i need to figure out what i'm going to do with the muffler. seeing as i don't own or have access to a tig or mig welder is there a good high heat thread lock i can use for attaching the exhaust tubes to the manifold? I hope i can figure this all out this week before it starts to snow. I might have to make CORO skiis and madin with them with the way the weather has been acting up. Also i'm trying to get my real pilot's licence so i will have to finish this baby off in between flights and ground school. I'm ready to make night flights and cross country so i might not have time. I'll post pics from the feild of me starting and tuning. and then when i fly it. This thing is soo big i think my cat could take a ride in it. I got to go my wife is not happy i set the plane on our new 6,500 dollar rug. I wish i could spend on airplanes and helis what she spens to decorate the house! the funny thing is she tells me when I can and can't buy airplane/heli stuff when i need it, but i have no say when we "need" to spend thousands of dollars on a rug. thats the married life for you. Oh well. till next time
