Fasinating as they're my favourate subject.
My second is RC planes which bring me back to the original question. A third plane.
Whereas I totally understand you desire to get something exciting, exotic, with retracts etc etc I belive you be better off with a real desent plane.
A CG Tiger II or even better, it's Kyosho alternative will introduce you to how a model plane should fly.
It'll do more for your skill level than flicking a retract switch.
Introduce yourself to some simple precision aerobatics via sports level competition... that'll introduce you to properly trimming your aeroplane (yes, it has nothing to do with those little black buttons near the sticks on your transmitter). This'll be worth million more than landing a model with flaps... when the model lands almost exactly the same, possibly even easier and or better without them!

Or just by a sport scale model and Give-a-D' if that make you happy.
