i did consider the 700bb but on six cells, it would be too slow. i also think that the feigao for 40$ and the pulso esc for 60$ is pretty inexpensive, seeing as a good brushed esc/motor combo would cost around the same(right?)
The 700 would be too slow on six cells, yes. I'm not sure about more than 12 in the OVM26. It will fit more but I think it would be a lot of weight for this hull. Like I said before it will do over 30 mph with 12 cells and a brushed 700 motor. With a brushless it would be even faster - maybe as fast as you want to go.
It would cost at least as much for a good brushed esc/motor combo - more actually.
Although I don't have experience with brushless systems 40A sounds low. You'd be safer to go with 70A. You won't save money if you burn the 40 up. For what it's worth I've calculated my 700 brushed setup on 12 cells is drawing about 40-45A with the props I use. Not sure how different that might be with the brushless sytem but probably would be in the same ballpark.
