I have one that I bought as a roller but my axial motor I was going to put in it is being warranteed. The shock towers may be plastic but they are thick as hell! I own a robitronics mantis and it is the most durable car I have and the protos has alot of the same drivetrain. I think it is very well made and you should be happy with it. I would not hesitate to buy anything robitronics makes. Buy the way robitronics just came out with the aluminum shock towers for it and it looks awesome with them!
