Thank's for the info. I was on the verge of ordering the advertised as Elan main struts from Jetpower, but was not aware that modifications would have to be done.
Since I have already modified a set of Robart 630 retract units I had on hand to fit the rails of the Elan, I simply am looking for the Jet-1a struts that will drop in the 1/2" diameter trunion block without having to use a pin to adapt, and not have to modify the gear well opening.
From what I have seen, all of the original Jet-1a struts designed specifically for the Elan require a pin for adaption to the retract unit. In short, I want a set of Jet-1a mains and a steerable nose gear that will fit the Robart 630 trunion block and not have to modify the gear well. Are these available?
we are currently producing the elan struts also in a 1/2 inch version. buti cant tell you when they are done..
you could have someone make you on a lathe a 1/2 inch piece of metal with a 8mm hole drilled in the middle.
then tap 2 small screws to lock the pin.
our pins act , like the flexplates do for bvm..
