If i were you i would go to your local club and see what they recomend for gas trainers, if you plan on getting into gas why wait. Most people use a gas trainer for thier first plane so you don't really need to be ready. Your instructor will put you on a buddy box. That way even if you screw up he can take over and save your plane.
