Osirisf16 ....dont take this the wrong way but the guy said.......

"I am trying to find the best buggy for under or close to $290. I am just a basher so there is no need for a race worthy ride. I have my mind set on two right now but am open to suggestions. Thanks for any info"........

You clearly listed 2 buggies in the $400 plus range and that really wont help.....a bash worthy buggy in my eyes....just my opinion....is an XTM XT2, and it can be found real cheap and the XTM 247 motor provides plenty of power and simple to tune...the OFNA LX One isnt bad and can be tuned to rip but I found them to be some what brittle...especially in the rear toe-block....that .28 in there is just to much.....not familiar with the Robo due to I've never seen one run.
The TQ Sport is solid and a good runner....Here's one you may seriously want to take a look at....The TTR runs a .21 motor, plenty of power and excellent run times...take a look

That is kit only, he'd still need to buy engine and radio. It is a good buggy though.
Best budget buggy is the hyper 7 and can be had for around that price with a little searching.
Anything less isn't worth it IMO
Sorry...thats my fault...it is a kit...this is the Thunder Tiger EB4 S2 RTR buggy under $300
