I cannot believe anyone is coming to the defence of this
PR@T!
The responsibility for safely in a situation like that lies with the pilot.
1) He should l have refused to take off with the spectators so close and not behind him.
2) He (it would appear) selected the wrong runway area.
3) The second the plane veered off towards the spectators (which was immediately) he should have killed the engine and applied brakes if he had them or at least full down elevator. (he could have even retracted the gear)
4) He should NEVER have continued with the take off. It lifted off and continued because he was holding in up elevator, by doing this he allowed further acceleration and brought the plan to body/head height.
I stand by what I said; no excuses are valid for this one.
