RE: WHAT THE ****..?????????????????????????????????????????
I agree with Icepilot. I’ve been flying a long time and a similar thing happened to me but on landing. Deadsticked a Byron hellcat and our approach to the runway is over a road. Well a car decided to stop right in front of my plane and I new that I would not be able to clear the car so I dumped the plane. Take a thirty+ pound plane into the window of a car with kids, NO THANKS. It is solely on the pilot to determine the safety of everyone around when he or she is flying. The spotter is also to blame for the incident. That’s why he is there, TO SPOT. The pilot made a bad decision, and the blame falls on him and him alone. When I got my turbine waiver I was told that I had to do a figure 8 pattern. Well, I told the CD that was with me that I couldn’t, because that would take the plane either close or over the pits. My problem with this is that the pilot even though it aperes he could fly, wasn’t aware of where the spectators were and it spiraled down from there.
