Default RE: WHAT THE?????????????????????????????????????????

Gordon, exactly !!!!!

Sorry you could not see that Butch, check six !!!

I will be flying at our major Australian jet meeting this weekend. The organisers have a rule that ALL take offs will be started ABEAM the pilot box to avoid exactly the situation shown in this video . We have the space on the long runway. So you see, Butch, someone has already given this issue some thought and I am more than happy to comply. They, too , care.

Another point is this . There is enormous scope for fun and enjoyment in this hobby in which I and so many others are so involved. However, safety is a serious issue and, as Gordon Mac says, no laughing matter, its one aspect we ALL have to take deadly seriously if we are to protect our hobby and the livelihoods of those dependant on the wellbeing of the hobby. That's my approach take it or leave it, perhaps we can keep the "humour", such as it was, for the other threads !!!

Last week I made a post on the loss of two A340s (one at Toulouse, the other at Quito) when it all went pear shaped, despite professional operation. It happens. Take that as it was meant, a heads up for us all and that video as a warning that there are seriously poor operators in our midst. If trying to keep safety on a serious level attracts insults from you or anyone else, then so be it. I get enough PMs from professional aviators thanking me for sticking my head above the parapet on saftey issues that the odd insult is small beer. !

Back to checking my Mig 29.

David Gladwin.
