Not wanting to just argue, nor is it worth it to, but how do you come up with remote=a wire is attached? I choose to take the words for their less convoluded meanings. Remote Control = Control (operated, funtioned or otherwise used) Remote (at a distance, not here but there) I see no requirement for wires in the definition.
