F3A Bipe photo
Yes.. a bipe has been used in F3A before. 2 of them actually. Tony Frakowiak flew a thing called the FYG-Leaf designed by Ken Bonemma in 1989 I think it was at the F3A WC, and someone else I don't remember flew something called the Shamrock at the same WC.
The thin airfoils do 2 things. 1, they don't contribute too much to the overall drag of the airplane which will be good anyway, and 2, thinner sections can have a faster flow separation making snaps REALLY good, something it'll need with such a low wing loading. And yes.. it has 1 servo per aileron (4 total).
This one is all balsa actually, built by the same guys that did Chip's original Hydeaway from Japan. Length is 78.5" and the span was supposed to be 76.5" originally, but I don't know what it is now as the design has had some changes from Chip's original drawings I got.
